Prayer of the Celebrant

The celebrant, kneeling, prays aloud:

O God, we have believed and have confirmed your divine and human presence, with all of your attributes, in this Blessed Sacrament.

  • You are the one who hid yourself in the womb of your mother, the Virgin Mary, for nine months;
  • You are the one who was born from her in the cave of Bethlehem;
  • You are the one who walked on the earth for thirty-three years;
  • You are the one who cured the sick, the blind, the lame; who cast out devils, gave life to the dead, and walked upon the sea;
  • You are the one who announced salvation to the world and guided back those who went astray;
  • You are the one who destroyed idols and eliminated blasphemy;
  • You are the one who was scourged and crowned with thorns, and who accepted various sufferings from those who offended your divinity and humanity;
  • You are the one who gave us your Body and Blood, at the Last Supper under the species of bread and wine, through your holy apostles.

You, who are above the host of heavenly angels, now chose to stay in your Church with us sinners: to guide and console us in our difficulties and tribulations; to enlighten us with the truths of the holy Catholic faith; to deliver us from the darkness of blasphemy, heresy, and schism; to strengthen us with your Body here present before us; and to quench our thirst with your Blood which you shed for our salvation, which opened the gates of heaven for us and closed the gates of hell, to give us life and to sanctify us with your divinity.

For this, we thank you always, and we adore your holy Body and Blood here before us, confessing that we are not worthy of this divine Mystery and of this love which you have given us. Grant us to sacrifice our hearts to you with love, to long for you with hope, and to receive you with faith, that you may become our Viaticum at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer to the Mother of God

The celebrant prays:

O purest Mother of God, the light of our darkness, our refuge and our hope, our shelter and our consolation.

Grant us to share in the Body of your Son and in his precious Blood, for we are unworthy sinners. You, who gave life to Jesus, the Source of everlasting life, give life to us who are dying in sin.

Grant us a reverent heart, humility of spirit, perfect contrition, firm resolve, and repentance through an honest confession, to glorify, exalt, and honor you, O Mary, the Immaculate Mother of God.

Grant us to approach and to receive the Mystery of your only Son, without condemnation, for we are clothed in wedding garments as we meet the heavenly Bridegroom, receiving him with repentant mouths, and containing him in our hearts.

You remain blessed, forever and ever.

Amen.

℣ O Lord, hear my prayer.℟ And let my cry come unto you.

℣ Peace be with you.℟ And with your spirit.

All: Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be…

Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament

The celebrant imposes incense and performs the typical incensation as the following hymn is chanted.

Following the incensation, the celebrant gives the thurible to one of the ministers. He receives the humeral veil and approaches the front of the altar. He makes the appropriate reverence and takes the monstrance into his hands, veiling the base of the monstrance in the humeral veil. Turning towards the congregation, he holds the monstrance while the following hymn is chanted. He blesses the congregation with the monstrance when the hymn reaches the phrase, “We bless you.” The minister with the censer incenses the Blessed Sacrament throughout the hymn.

The Prayers of the Rosary

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, ✛ and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be to the Father

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. ℣ Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. ℟ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let Us Pray

O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Rosary Indulgences

A Plenary Indulgence

May be gained under the usual conditions, when the Rosary is prayed in church, in a family group, or in a religious community. Also:

  • Five decades of the Rosary must be prayed continuously.
  • The prayers of the Rosary must be prayed vocally, and one must meditate upon the Mysteries of the Rosary.
  • If the recitation of the Rosary is public, the Mysteries of the Rosary must be announced.

A Partial Indulgence may be gained for any part of the Rosary's recitation, in whole or in part, in other circumstances. A Plenary Indulgence can be gained only once a day, except by those who are in danger of death.

To gain a plenary indulgence

One must perform the indulgenced act. Three other conditions must be fulfilled:

  1. 1. A sacramental confession
  2. 2. Eucharistic Communion
  3. 3. Prayers for the Pope's intentions

In addition, one must be free of all attachment to sin, even venial sin. If this complete integrity is not present, or if the above conditions are not fulfilled, the indulgence is only partial. Both a plenary and a partial indulgence may be applied to the dead.

Printed guides for the Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, and the Service of Saint Sharbel are available in the church vestibule. Questions? Call the rectory at 617.522.0225.
